What To Expect In A Voice Session
The first half of a standard session together will focus on warming up and coordinating the voice. Compare this part of the lesson to the barre work that ballet dancers partake in at the beginning of class. These vocal exercises will warm your voice up while helping you work on skills such as flexibility, agility, strength, stamina, register coordination, breath control, etc.
The second half typically focuses on applying the skills learned during the first half into your repertoire. Amanda is not an accompanist, but does play some piano. The work on repertoire is strongly focused on technique and less focused on performance prep. If you’re preparing for an audition and want to bring an accompanist to the second half of your lesson, you are more than welcome to do so. You can contact Amanda for accompanist recommendations if needed.
If you're more interested in singing through material with a a pianist, finding new audition rep, or simply learning music for an audition, you're probably looking for a vocal coach and not a voice teacher. Contact Amanda for vocal coaching recommendations.

Long Distance Sessions Via Skype
AFVS is now equipped for technique sessions via Skype. Skype is free and can be downloaded online. The better your webcam, speakers, and internet connection are, the better quality your lessons will be. Also, be sure you download the programs and are successfully online before your session time begins.
If you'd like to run through material during an online session, it is recommended that you have an accompaniment track to play during your session.
To book an online session, please book a regular lesson and let me know in the notes that you'd like to meet via Skype.
